- Ink, fruit, coffee, tea, or chocolate stains: Dab them with alcohol or ammonia and rinse with clear water.
- Grease: Gently dab with stain remover or ammonia and rinse with clear water.
- Wine: Rinse with warm water and wash the stain immediately. Do not sprinkle salt on the stain, as it can damage the fibers. Instead, use some white wine. Prefer white wine over salt to remove the stain.
- Sunscreen: Sunscreen stains often have a specific color and are greasy. To remove these stains, it’s best to use a liquid or gel detergent. For large grease stains, it’s advisable to use a stain pre-treatment product.
- Blood: Usually, washing blood stains with a regular detergent suffices. If you have stubborn blood stains, first soak the stains in cold water. Add half a tablespoon of salt for every half liter of water. After rinsing, let the linen soak for a few hours in warm water with a biological softener. Afterwards, you can wash the linen as usual.
- The sooner, the better. Stains treated immediately are more likely to completely disappear.
- Avoid mixing different chemical products, as they can react with each other.
If you use a stain remover:
- Adequate ventilation is a must
- Keep the products out of reach of children
- Work preferably in multiple steps, and if necessary, you can repeat the treatment
- Protect your eyes and skin
